Some superficial thoughts. It's late in the night, and I was thinking about sex tonight (wow, that's new!...but no). Reminds me of that question, intellectuality versus (with?) sexuality... I was watching the philosophy show, and they were talking about man and woman sexual behavior in Brazil's history... Needless to say that, in general, man had more sexual freedom than woman, with access to the so called 'puteiros', and even because of the subservient nature of some housekeeper women.
I find it pretty interesting, and somehow sad to me. The interesting part it's to recognize the change on those values (at least, 'paper' values), and a gain in women's sexual freedom. On the other hand, I myself, as a man in the modern Brazilian society, feel oppressed. By that need of man showing that they are 'real man', and the need to fulfill some roles that had been regarded to us (for instance, to take initiative on relationships), both of which, I think, are heritage of that historical background.
